About TriClad
"TriClad jointing strips are bimetallic strips or blocks used to join different metals by welding techniques that are present in every shipyard. TriClad is mainly used when two types of metal are actually not weldable or when mechanical connections cause corrosion problems. Therefore, this connecting strip is widely found in shipbuilding. Nowadays, aluminum is increasingly used to reduce weight. Because aluminum is more expensive, often only the structure is produced from aluminum. Aluminum is used to a greater or lesser extent for structures above the waterline to lower the center of gravity and thus improve the rocking motion, the rest is often still steel."
