HAYNES 188 alloy

HAYNES 188 alloy is a solution hardened cobalt based super alloy that combines exceptional high temperature strength with exceptional resistance to oxidizing environments (up to 1095°C) and excellent resistance to corrosion and high temperature corrosion caused by sulfate deposition.

Haynes 188 alloy (UNS R30188) in brief:

HAYNES® 188 alloy is a cobalt-nickel-chromium-tungsten alloy that offers excellent high temperature strength, superior oxidation resistance up to 1095°C and thermal stability. This alloy is widely used in demanding gas turbine combustion engines, transition channels and afterburner components of military and civilian aircraft.

  • Heat Resistant Alloy
  • Cobalt-nickel-chromium-wofram alloy
  • Combines high temperature strength with good resistance to oxidizing environments (up to 1095 degrees Celsius)
  • Excellent resistance to sulfate and molten chloride salts.
  • Good forming and welding properties (MIG and TIG)
  • Often used in gas turbine engines

Product description Haynes HTA - Haynes 188 alloy

This alloy is widely used in aircraft gas turbine engines. Although HAYNES 188 alloy is a very suitable alloy for that application, this alloy is increasingly being replaced by HAYNES 230® alloy in new demanding applications. HAYNES 188 alloy can be formed using various techniques, both cold and hot, and can be welded using standard techniques.
