ACVG course

Cathodic protection

Would you like to learn how to detect and assess coating defects on metal pipelines using the ACVG technique? Do you want to enhance your knowledge and skills in cathodic protection and corrosion control? Then the ACVG training at Merrem & La Porte is perfect for you!

What is ACVG?

ACVG stands for Alternate Current Voltage Gradient, a methodology that uses low-frequency alternating current (AC) as a signal source to locate coating defects on metal pipelines. These pipelines are often exposed to corrosive environments, such as in the oil, gas, and water industries. By conducting an ACVG survey, operators can monitor the integrity of their pipeline networks and take preventive maintenance measures to prevent or reduce corrosion-related damage.

What will you learn in the ACVG training?

In the ACVG training, you will learn both the theory and practice of the ACVG technique. You will learn how to use official ACVG measurement equipment, detect a coating defect, and determine the exact location and size of the defect. You will also learn how to download, analyze, and report ACVG data. Additionally, you will learn how to integrate the ACVG technique with other methods such as DCVG, CIPS, and GPS to get a comprehensive understanding of pipeline conditions.

What are the benefits of the ACVG training?

The ACVG training offers numerous benefits, including:

  • Enhancing your knowledge and skills in cathodic protection and corrosion control;
  • Learning to locate and assess coating defects on metal pipelines;
  • Extending the lifespan of pipelines and improving safety;
  • Applying the ACVG technique in various conditions and environments;
  • Integrating the ACVG technique with other methods for optimal diagnosis.

You’ll receive a certificate of participation demonstrating your mastery of the ACVG technique.
