HAYNES 242 alloy

HAYNES 242 alloy is a precipitation-hardening nickel-based superalloy that derives its strength from an ordering reaction after aging. The curing remains effective above 700°C. Its strength, good oxidation resistance, low expansion properties and high ductility after aging make the alloy ideally suited for applications in gas turbines, chemical plants and other industrial areas.

This alloy is widely used for sealing rings, channel segments, housings and fasteners for aircraft engines.

The Haynes 242 (UNS N10242) alloy is:

  • Heat resistant alloy (up to 705°C)
  • Corrosion resistant (up to 815°C)
  • A Nickel-Molybdenum-Chromium Alloy
  • Derives its strength from a long-term response to aging
  • Used in gas turbine seal rings, containments and high strength fasteners.

Product description Haynes HTA - Haynes 242 alloy

Alloy 242 in cold hardened and aged condition shows properties that make the alloy excellent as a spring and fastener material. The exceptional resistance to hydrogen fluoride and fluoride environments makes this alloy particularly suitable for use in fluoropolymer production equipment. Furthermore, Alloy 242 is highly resistant to most reducing aqueous acid solutions. HAYNES 242 alloy can be formed both cold and hot and can be welded using standard methods.
