Nickel alloys are widely used in the world of technical materials. They owe their popularity to their good corrosion resistance and their good properties at high temperatures.

What is a nickel alloy?

Every nickel alloy consists of different elements. For example, chromium in nickel alloys provides a higher oxidation resistance. At Merrem & la Porte we have a wide range of nickel alloys, so that we can always provide the best solution. Each alloy has its own composition and properties that make the alloy unique.

Which nickel alloys are available from Merrem & la Porte?

Nickel alloys are often known by their trade name. At Merrem & la Porte we have alloys of Hastelloy®, Haynes®, Inconel®, Incoloy®, Monel®, Stellite® and Ultimet®, among others.

Where are nickel alloys used?

The alloys are used in situations where extreme demands are made on the properties around high temperatures (such as turbines and engines) or corrosion resistance (against hot chemicals).

Nickel alloys are applied in various industries. The high corrosion resistance in an oxidizing environment and the good heat resistance ensure that they can be used for a wide variety of markets. High-quality alloys are more resistant to corrosion and high temperatures than other metals. This makes them ideal for welding applications. High corrosion and heat resistance is very important for the chemical, petrochemical and gas extraction industry. Due to increasing environmental and safety requirements, nickel alloys are increasingly used.

Where are titanium alloys used?

Titanium (or titanium) is light. At the same time it is very strong and has a very good corrosion resistance. They are used because of their great strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties at high temperatures. Previously, titanium and titanium alloys were mainly used in aerospace. Now that material costs have fallen, titanium is being used in various industries.

In which industries do we find our alloys?

At Merrem & la Porte we focus on the distribution of high-quality alloys. These are mainly used in aerospace, chemical processing and industrial gas turbine industries, but there are more markets where alloys are used. Alloys are used in these markets:

  • Petrochemistry
  • Chemistry
  • Pharmacy
  • Aviation
  • Space travel
  • Defence
  • Offshore, oil and gas
  • Water purification
  • Semi/conductor chip industry
  • Power plants / nuclear power plants
  • Motorsport
  • Other markets
