HASTELLOY B-3 alloy

HASTELLOY B-3 alloy has, due to a balanced chemical composition, a strongly improved thermal stability compared to its predecessor HASTELLOY B-2 alloy which greatly benefits the processability. The reduced tendency to excrete harmful precipitates results in less loss of ductility during and after heat treatments. HASTELLOY B-3 alloy like Alloy B-2 has a low C content which means that the material does not require heat treatment after welding.

Product description Hastelloy CRA B-3 Alloy

The corrosion resistance to the many reducing acidic media such as acetic acid, formic acid and hydrochloric acid is improved. Furthermore, Alloy B-3 offers better resistance to stress corrosion cracking and corrosion in the heat-affected zone than Alloy B-2. HASTELLOY B-3 alloy, like Alloy B-2, is used in equipment for the preparation and/or processing of highly reducing acids such as hydrochloric, sulfuric and phosphoric acids. However, applications are also found in organic chemistry such as equipment for the production of ethylbenzol, phenol from isopro pylbenzol and acetic anhydride and pressure vessels for chloroprene manufacture.

Hastelloy B-3 alloy is available in: plate, bar, pipe, fitting, flanges and welding material in standard dimensions. Other dimensions, forgings and fasteners on request. Merrem & la Porte also offers cutting, sawing and plasma, waterjet or laser cutting capabilities.
