Titanium Grade 16
Titanium Grade 16
As with Titanium Grade 7 and Titanium Grade 11, palladium has been added to this titanium grade. Titanium Grade 16 contains virtually the same corrosion resistance as titanium grades 7 and 11. In terms of mechanical properties, Titanium Grade 16 is most similar to the commercially pure Titanium Grade 2. The only difference: to Titanium Grade 16 only 0.05% palladium has been added.
Palladium is a very expensive material. By adding only 0.05%, there is a significant cost (and therefore price) savings.

About Titanium Grade 16
Titanium alloys are used for their good corrosion resistance, high tensile strength and long service life. With Titanium Grade 16, a cheaper version of Titanium Grade 7 has entered the market. The alloys are similar to each other when it comes to corrosion resistance. Adding palladium improves the corrosion resistance of an alloy.
Titanium Grade 16 Applications
The weldability of Titanium Grade 16 is very good. This alloy is a single-phase material, so the microstructure of the alpha phase is not affected by thermal treatments or welding temperatures. This titanium grade is mainly used in chemical processing.
