Lida

Cathodic protection

LIDA® is an anode for cathodic protection manufactured by De Nora and is used in impressed current systems. This type of anode is easy to transport, handle, and install. Its robust design ensures long-lasting performance.

Innovative alternative

The Nora Lida was designed in the 1980s as an innovative alternative to traditional cathodic protection systems focusing on corrosion prevention. These anodes are known as MMO anodes (Mixed Metal Oxide). The product was innovative because of its lightweight material, making it easier to provide cathodic protection to large industrial steel structures. From pipelines and storage tanks to locks, dams, and offshore platforms, LIDA offers a lightweight solution for cathodic protection.

Titanium based

The LIDA anodes have a titanium base and are coated with a noble metal oxide. The mixed metal oxide is a crystalline, electrically conductive coating that activates the titanium, allowing it to function as an anode. When the coating is applied to titanium, it has very low consumption rates.

Using LIDA anodes

LIDA coatings can be used in a wide range of environments, including soil, fresh water, mud, and seawater. They are even suitable for environments with very low pH levels. LIDA coatings are also unaffected by chlorine. By combining LIDA anodes with a chlorine-resistant wire cable, they can be used in saltwater and brackish water environments.

Applications:

  • Groundbeds
  • Seawater
  • Brackish water
  • Mud
  • Freshwater
