800H Alloy

Alloy 800H is a strong alloy that can be used at high temperatures. The chromium in this alloy also makes it highly corrosion resistant. This austenitic, heat-resistant alloy has controlled levels of carbon, titanium, silicon, manganese and Al + Ti.

There are several alloy 800s. The alloy 800H is heat resistant, resistant to oxidation, carbonization and nitration.

Alloy 800H/800HT

Alloys 800H/800HT are two individual alloys, often offered together. They are both considered superior to the base alloy 800 because they have better stress fracture properties. However, there is an important difference between these two alloys. The 800HT is characterized by limited aluminum and titanium content.

Applications of alloy 800H

This alloy is often used in applications where they are exposed to high temperatures for long periods of time and where resistance to oxidation, carbonization, and other corrosion forms at elevated temperature is a requirement. As a result, this alloy is often found in heat treatment and power generation. Due to the high content of nickel, the alloy 800H has a high resistance to nitriding. Nevertheless, the resistance to nitration is even better in alloys with a higher percentage of nickel. The chromium content in 800H provides excellent resistance to various acids.

Alloy 800H is used for:

• Pigtails and manifolds in reformers
• Heat exchangers
• Pressure vessels
• Dampers
• Industrial furnaces

Processing

Alloy 800H can be easily processed and welded. However, because of their high strength, they require equipment with higher power than standard austenitic stainless steels.
