Swain
Swain is an American company specializing in the production of portable DC current clamps. These are instruments that accurately measure the magnitude and direction of direct current on any conductor. These devices, known as Swain Meters, are used for corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection and can be utilized on land, underground, or underwater.
History of Swain
Swain was founded in 1965 by William H. Swain in Sarasota, Florida. Swain had experience working for the U.S. military and NASA on rocket guidance systems and advanced maritime navigation technology. Swain developed the first DC current clamps to assist pipeline operators in monitoring cathodic protection on their pipelines. Swain meters quickly gained popularity in various industries worldwide, including oil and gas, water, infrastructure, and renewable energy.
